Hi,
I have a self-built computer which I put together about 8 months ago. Here are the components:
PSU - XFX TS 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX
CPU - Intel Core i7 i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150)
Photoscissors 5
Advanced Serial Data Logger 4.1.4 Build 926 (Trial) Advanced SystemCare Professional 8.0.3.614 (Ad-supported) Advanced Tv Player 8 (Ad-supported) AdvancedHMI 3.84 Beta (GPL). BIO-key(R) International; Bionym Announces Worlds First Biometrically Authenticated Wearable Payment Technology Trial. PhotoShine(艺术照片处理软件; 今日更新推荐 本类热门标签. PhotoScape X Pro(图片处理软件)v2.4.1.
Motherboard - MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150
Memory - Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Graphics Card - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB WINDFORCE
Case - NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Wireless LAN Card - TP-Link TL-WN851ND 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Adapter
Optical Drive - Sony AD-7240S-0B 24x Internal DVDRWRAM SATA Black Bare
Hard Drive 1 - 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black
Hard Drive 2 - 3TB Western Digital Caviar Green
Driver Booster 4.1 Serial Key
Hard Drive 3 - 2TB Seagate Barracuda
USB 3.0 Expansion Card - Inateck Superspeed 4 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0
Monitor - Cibox LW1922C
Router - Technicolor TG582n
The last few months I've started having problems with it being slow for certain operations (e.g. when I right click a file it can take 10-20 seconds for the menu to appear; it can take a while for files files to open after double clicking them, especially PDFs which can take up to a minute; when typing in Google Chrome, there can be a lag of a few seconds before the text appears and I quite often get 'not responding' for a few seconds.) Also, my computer freezes every two or three days on average and I have to restart.

I'm careful to take care of the computer, running antivirus and malware scans every week and clearing out redundant files. I even opened the case and cleaned out the dust a couple of weeks ago, but nothing seems to help. I never use registry cleaners or defraggers.
Please can someone suggest what I might be able to do to speed up the computer and stop crashes?
Thank you,
Joe
